About Our School

  • Hawkins Path Elementary School was established in 1963 and is currently one of eight elementary schools in the Middle Country School District.  Centereach is a small suburban community in the center of Long Island approximately 50 miles east of New York City and 15 minutes from the Long Island Sound or Atlantic Ocean.  We pride ourselves on being a neighborhood school which serves students in 1st through 5th grade.

Our campus sits at the corner of Hawkins Road and Boyle Road and is recognized for its tree lined path that welcomes families and visitors to our school.  The current enrollment is just over 300 students and a faculty of 35 full and part time members.  The building includes a gymnasium, library, computer lab, and cafeteria/ auditorium.  There is a feeling of family and friendship when you enter Hawkins Path School.  Children feel secure and confident within this student-centered environment.  Quality education has been achieved by a dedicated and caring staff.  Curricular standards have been established which meet or exceed those set by New York State.

The Hawkins Path faculty and staff are committed to preparing our students for academic success while nurturing their social development and continuing to support the values of the school community.  The family/ school relationship is a key factor in making Hawkins Path an outstanding educational institution.  Our partnership with the PTA allows us to work together to provide our children with unique, creative, and motivating programs through cultural arts.

We are proud of our students' academic success, athletic prowess, musical and artistic talents and good citizenship.
